Browser Bookmarks

I finally got around to looking into synchronizing my Firefox bookmarks between multiple PCs using Firefox. I also looked into synchronizing my Firefox bookmarks with Safari.

For Syncing Firefox bookmarks between other PCs using firefox use:
-works for OS X and Windows

The Foxmarks Bookmark Synchronizer automatically synchronizes your bookmarks between two or more computers running Firefox. It also lets you access your bookmarks from any computer anytime via my.foxmarks.com. An easy-to-use wizard guides you through the quick startup process. Then Foxmarks works silently in the background to keep your bookmarks up-to-date on all your computers.

For Syncing Bookmarks between various browsers use:
-Works for OS X only

With all the browsers available for the Mac OS keeping your bookmarks organized can become a real problem. But with Bookit keeping your browsers' bookmarks synchronized is quick and easy. Bookit compares the bookmarks you have and then lets you synchronize the bookmarks that are not in all of your browsers. Finally, Bookit creates identical bookmark files for each browser. If you use more than one browser regularly, give Bookit a try, you'll wonder how you ever lived without it.

iPhone will likely fail.

I haven't been blogging in a while because I haven't had much to say. I know a lot of blogs talk about the new iPhone, but I guess I'll give my two cents.

The new phone is coolish looking. From what I've seen I think it doesn't look finished. I love Apple products, but I think they are not pushing the envelope anymore. It's cool the device does multiple things, but what about just perfecting the current problems we have using cell phones today. Things like VOICE RECOGNITION texting instead of lame keyboards. Apple's approach is an improvement, but not amazing.

No matter how much Apple wants to maintain the upperhand over cell phone services, I think they will always be at their mercy. The pricing of data packages is already LAME. way too expensive for most. So already that's a downer. What about the speed of the network? I doubt it will be faster than my laptop. No GPS just google/yahoo maps which will likely take forever to download info making it a inconvenient feature.

The UI of the phone is mixed. Some of the functionality is cool but other looks like Windows stuff "trying" to be Mac like. I think the virtual keyboard doesn't look Mac at all. The aqua look is played out, they should build more on the stainless steel look since that is more timeless. The back of the phone is boring. what about a DUAL display phone... battery hog probably.

anyway, i have too many ideas that would actually work, but nobody listens to me.

Conclusion:
1. Apple has made a product that has some punch, but just falls short of a knockout and TOO MUCH room for what will be obvious upgrades and more money later. For the price Apple is charging they need to give me a product that leaves me wondering "How can they ever top this" and then top it.

2. Thanks Cingular (and eventual phone carriers) for never letting any phone be able to be all it can because you charge too damn much for all the services required to make the product perfect.
