Everyone has their opinion about whether a movie will suck or not. Watching the previews before your feature presentation you turn over to your friend and say " that is going to bomb, why'd they even make it".

If I were running a movie theater, I would create buzz. How? By setting up certain movies at a certain time to be free. Hence, bringing in more movie goers who otherwise might pass on the movies (since they are quite pricey these days). This allows them to free up some cash for concessions which are the theaters main cash source.

Yes, I'd take a hit on movie tickets, but I would make up for it in customer relationships with MY theater. Creating a reputation of not being a money hungry theater and building customer trust and word of mouth buzz.

My only hope would be that these customers who see the flick free, would come back another time to see it again or to be the first choice to see a movie at. Movie theaters seem to be lost on what to do to make money. It doesn't seem that difficult. Take risks.
